About the Emergency Management Unit. The Emergency Management Unit looks after the following:
The University of New South Wales is committed to providing a framework for emergency management in order to respond to the following priorities in the event of an emergency:
It is for this reason that the University has developed an Emergency Management Plan. The Emergency Management Plan sets out the management protocols that will control and coordinate emergency response. The University recognises that effective planning must be flexible, designed to meet all types of emergencies and must include the key planning issues of preparedness, response and recovery. The Emergency Management Approach at UNSWAt UNSW, irrespective of the incident or emergency, the University's emergency management arrangements will be identical in principle. This principle is called an "all hazards" approach. This approach recognises that it is impossible to predict accurately the course and impact of unexpected events. Therefore, emergency management arrangements must be flexible while supporting sound and timely decision making. Using this approach in the work place may assist in reducing liabilities. Preparedness
